DuckDuckGo is a popular search engine that many folks use as an alternative to Google. One of the main reasons for this is the concern about online privacy. DuckDuckGo clearly states on their site that they do not collect or share any personal information. Moreover, they don’t promote other services in their search results, thus creating a clutter-free. Up until now, you needed to navigate to the DuckDuckGo Website in order to use the service. That has all changed with the latest release of Safari (7.1). You can now set DuckDuckGo as your default search engine. This way, whenever you perform a search from Safari’s address bar, the browser will execute the search using the DuckDuckGo search engine.
To Change the Default Search Engine in Safari
- Choose ➪ Preferences from the menu.
- Click the Default Search Engine drop-down list.
- Choose the search engine you wish to use. In this case, we’ll choose DuckDuckGo.
