Beginning with Mac OS X Lion, the personal Library is hidden from view; that is to say, it is not listed under your User folder. We mentioned in a previous post that you can temporarily display it by choosing Go from the Finder menu and holding down the Alt or Option key.
However, if you need to access the Library folder from within an application, this trick will not work. In such as case, you might want to add your Library folder to the Sidebar for quick access. To do so, open the Library folder using the method above and then drag the Title icon to the Sidebar. The Library now becomes a permanent resident of the Sidebar (or at least until you remove it).
To Add the Library Folder to the Sidebar
- Click the Finder icon on the Dock.
- Click Go on the menu.
- Hold down the Alt or Option key on your keyboard.
- Click Library when it appears in the menu list.
- Drag the Library icon from the Title Bar to the the desired location on the Sidebar.
