I’ve posted about the different ways to add special characters such as ⌘, ⌦, or © to your documents using the Edit > Special Characters command available in many applications or by choosing them from the Character Viewer on the menu bar.
There is yet another way to insert special characters into your documents: using only keyboard – my favorite method for doing most things.
To trigger the Special Character palette using your keyboard, press the ⌘⌃Spacebar keyboard combination (Command and Control and Spacebar).
Press the Tab key to move from one character section to another. To choose a specific characters use your arrow keys until the desired characters is selected. Press Enter or Return to insert the characters into your documents.
You can also search for a specific character by typing in a keyword such as degree or copyright.
